That's not a problem for Mimics in games like DQ/Dark Souls/Kid Icarus Uprising: etc, because they start off looking identical to chests in both size and shape and then transform when people try to open them. Like, when they show up in the anime for instance, it typically just doesn't work at all and looks ridiculous that Ash would mistake them for anything because of their size (and because of their giant eyes, which, since they can't actually transform, look really silly when they just suddenly pop out of nowhere) which is why they decided to just have them as things that blow up as often as actually being mimics. Geno is another Square character that has always been popular but trailed off in Smash For. Perhaps those two being lower is down to people’s perceptions on the companies that own them (many like to think Sakurai wouldn’t work with Konami and that Disney might interfere with Sora). Both Shovel Knight and Shantae, two fairly small players in the industry, all things considered, are ranking above the likes of Bomberman and Sora, two major 3rd party icons.
