I did not think so as the model that runs has a larger displacement than the model with ultrasound, and the displacements are much smaller than the element size. Sometimes it hangs up on the first timestep, but sometime it runs about halfway through the simulation before the error. I've also tried prescribing the displacement to fewer nodes, but still encounter the same error. I've tried changing the wave amplitude anywhere from 0.02 micrometers to 1 micrometer. This model does not converge, and gives a negative Jacobian error. The second model, instead of applying slow compression, I apply an ultrasound pulse from the top (prescribed displacement) as a single sinusoidal pulse at a frequency of 1 MHz. In one model, I compress (prescribed displacement) the geometry slowly from the top up to about 6 micrometers. The elements are hexahedral elements with 25 micrometer sidelengths. The whole geometry is about 1000 micrometers in length, and the pore side lengths are about 400 micrometers. The scaffold is an isotropic elastic material and the pores are filled with a soft tissue modeled as a biphasic material.
